Makeup, costumes, Jeopardy, that last minute bite of food, welcome backstage to Legends in Concert. I typically arrive about 30 minutes prior to show time, so already the Legends, singers, dancers have already begun preps for the opening number. They are busy with costumes, make up, hair, it is a busy atmosphere, and sometimes you hear the “hey do you have any foundation?” I mentioned Jeopordy, that’s what is usually on in the Green Room entertaining those who walk by and those just taking a minute to relax. It’s quite amazing how much your fellow co-workers know. The volume on the TV is sometimes drowned out by the hair dryer, someone tuning a guitar, and yes there is laughing. We are in show business so you have to keep a smile.
It is overall a fun environment with a great group of people to work with. I believe one of the best parts about my job is the people. I enjoy everyone I work for, and with. Trust me there is never a dull moment backstage and many of us have made life long friends with our fellow co-workers backstage. I did know several of the performers and workers backstage before I started working at Legends in February and it’s been nice to get to spend time with them as well. Yes, occasionally we do have time to reflect back on what happened the night before. Where do I begin with that? As you hear PLACES!
That’s the 5 minute mad dash to finish the food you were cramming down, getting that last drop of water, or finish putting on your costume as you run to your position in the theatre for show time. When places gets called you see the mad rush to get to the stage, because at 8:00 it’s show time.
That is a great post. It provides a quick glimpse of what truly does go on pre-show behind the scenes.
Just a great family and friend place!
